Resources for students

The Writing Resource Center (WRC)
Visit the Writing Resource Center in 13 Moon Library for free writing support. Our peer tutors and graduate assistants are trained to work with you on all stages of your writing projects from getting started, drafting, revising, citations and format.  Schedule a 25 or 55 minute appointment at https://esf.mywconline.com/ by selecting a Writing Center Tutor and a time that fits your schedule. Drop in hours may be available on M-F from 9-5. Time slots fill quickly, especially during peak times in the semester. Please contact Dr. Karin Patzke, at klpatzke@esf.edu for further information and visit the website for information on scheduled workshops, tutors, and hours.

The Public Speaking Lab (PSL)
The Public Speaking Lab (PSL) is a free student to student service located in 13B on the lower level of Moon Library.  The PSL supports the development of our undergraduates’ public, academic, and professional speaking skills.  PSL student tutors will work with you in person to provide formative feedback on presentations and presentation materials (from outlines to presentation visuals). The lab also functions as a rehearsal space and team room where groups of students can meet to plan, practice, film, and review presentations. To make an appointment, visit the PSL online scheduling system, Appointy, at and select an available time that works for you. Check your email for a confirmation from the Appointy System.

Digital Storytelling Studio (DSS)
Founded in the spring of 2018, The Digital Storytelling Studio (DSS) is a support center for brainstorming, composing, and editing digital stories about science and the environment. The DSS offers rental of equipment, tutoring for students and faculty working on digital stories, and lectures and workshops that help frame an approach toward storytelling—both in and out of the classroom. Though the DSS does not create videos or gather audio or visual data for its visitors, the consultants will work with you to support the development and finalization of a digital story. The studio accepts both walk ins and appointments made through their website.
